Grapevine
Several shades of green fill in a tattoo design of a vine or vines. Colorful fruits, such as grapes, add symbolism to the tattoo. Use the grapes to symbolize a new beginning or the love of visiting a winery.
Abstract
Abstract artwork is one of the beautiful options of tattoos. Artwork that is not literal, or real, is often seen tattooed on people’s bodies. The tattoo artist fulfills tattoos like this by adding elements to the vine, such as flowers or hearts. While some flowers do in fact grow on a vine, the client may want a flower that typically does not, like a lily; this is possible with an abstract piece of tattoo artwork. The number of hearts or flowers branching off from the vine represent the amount of children, loved ones that have passed on, or perhaps years being sober for a recovering addict.
Ivy
An ivy vine is a representation of protection and longevity in a tattoo. Ivy covering the chest area, over the heart, reminds a person to protect their heart in future relationships after a heartbreaking divorce or separation. A circle of ivy around a woman’s waist symbolizes protection of the womb for future children. The dark color and shape of ivy makes this tattoo design an option for covering up scars, birthmarks, or tattoos of past lover’s names, while at the same time serving as a symbol of protection to the person wanting to hide the painful memory of these marks on their bodies.
